We’re Hiring a Personal Trainer at East Coast Fitness
Love helping people? Got energy, passion, and a great attitude? This could be the perfect role for you.

Hi, I’m Graham Low — founder of East Coast Fitness in Seaham Marina — and I’m looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and friendly Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach to join our growing team.
We help people in Seaham and the surrounding areas get fitter, stronger, and more confident — through group training, personal training, and a strong, supportive community. Whether it’s Boot Camps on the seafront or private sessions in our gym, we aim to make fitness fun, welcoming, and life-changing.
But we’re getting busier…
And more people need our help!
What We’re Looking For
I’m looking for someone who:
- Loves working with people
- Has a positive attitude and genuine passion for fitness
- Wants to be part of a team that’s making a difference locally
- Is reliable, energetic, and ready to learn
We’ll give you all the support you need — including training in our systems and methods — but you need to bring the energy, people skills, and care for others.
About the Role
You’ll be coaching a mix of:
- Small Group PT sessions (up to 4 clients)
- Boot Camp group classes
- 1:1 PT sessions (optional depending on experience)
You’ll start with around 2–3 shifts per week, roughly 3–4 hours per shift, with the opportunity to grow your hours over time. We have sessions running mornings, evenings and weekends — so a bit of flexibility is needed.
You’ll be based at our private gym at Seaham Marina, with access to great kit, an amazing location, and a really friendly atmosphere.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coaching clients through their personalised training programmes
- Delivering fun, results-focused group sessions
- Tracking progress and keeping clients motivated
- Giving proper exercise instruction and support
- Sharing simple nutrition and lifestyle advice
- Being a key part of a close-knit team that genuinely cares about people
What You Need
- Minimum Level 2 Fitness Instructor & Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification
- A real passion for helping people improve their health and fitness
- Great communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude
- Confidence to coach groups and individuals
- A willingness to learn and grow within the business
Bonus Skills (But Not Essential)
- Previous experience delivering PT or group sessions
- Nutrition knowledge or certification
- A degree in Sports Science, Physio, or related field
What You’ll Get in Return
- A fun, positive work environment with no egos or intimidation
- Ongoing training and development
- The chance to grow with an award-winning local business
- Fair pay — with opportunities to increase as your role grows
- Real job satisfaction helping people transform their lives
